There are several things to keep in mind when you begin this dialogue.

1. Consider whether or not this person is experienced.

You want a representative who has been in the business for some time, who knows the market, and who will be able to best address your flooring questions. Ask how long he or she has worked in the flooring industry and at this particular company. Don’t forget – your flooring decision is important. What you choose will have an impact on your life for years to come. You want a good relationship with your sales representative.

2. Check to make sure he or she is up-to-date on flooring trends.

Is he or she educated on what’s current in the market right now? Don’t be afraid to take your time. Explain exactly what you’re looking for and feel free to be honest about your thoughts.

3. Pay attention to how the sales representative responds.

Does he or she seem genuinely interested in discovering your exact needs and building an intimate relationship with you? If so, then you’ve found a good fit.
