When it is time to update your bedroom, one of the first steps to consider – the flooring. Flooring can play a major role in changing your bedroom into a peaceful, comfortable retreat.

Choosing the right bedroom flooring that adds your personal touch to the room can be easy. Even though carpet is still thought of as “king” in the bedroom, with today’s options you have an array of other possibilities to choose from.

Finding the perfect bedroom flooring means taking into considering:

•    the look of the flooring,
•    the feel of the flooring especially on your feet,
•    the insulation value on how it minimizes noise,
•    the maintenance to keep it clean,
•    and the price.

Carpet offers a warm and inviting look. It feels especially soft under your feet in the morning, helps insulate your bedroom from noise, and is reasonable priced.

On the other hand, carpet does have a shorter life span and is harder to keep clean.

Hardwood Flooring

You may want to consider hardwood flooring, or possibly laminate flooring or luxury vinyl flooring. Hardwood flooring can be an excellent choice for your bedroom, providing beauty and durability.

Enhancing the hardwood with throw rugs can create a much softer feeling for your feet. However, hardwood floors don’t minimize noise.

Hardwood is pricey but holds up well. Cleaning it is easy. The ability to sand, buff, and refinish it to refresh the finish, especially when it’s in a high-traffic area, is always an option.

Laminate Flooring

When you love the look of hardwood but can’t afford the cost – consider laminate flooring. With the right underlayment padding, you can have a softer surface and help minimize noise. Laminate is easy to clean. It is a great alternative for hardwood if you’re on a tight budget.

Since laminate flooring is just a thin piece of wood with a protective layer over it, laminate flooring can’t be refinished like hardwood flooring. Eventually, it does show it’s age.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Luxury vinyl flooring provides versatility. It offers the look of wood or ceramic, as while as outstanding durability and ease of maintenance. Combined with the correct underlayment, it can feel soft on your feet and help minimize noise.

Luxury vinyl flooring is easy to care for and has a long lifespan when it’s swept or vacuumed routinely. The price for luxury vinyl is comparable to inexpensive tile or medium grade carpet and can go up to the mid-grade wood product range.
