Have you ever considered wood flooring?

You should. Wood floors are an excellent choice for flooring, and they can last for years and add value to your home.

Ready to look at wood flooring?

Then it’s time to visit the showroom. Always purchase your wood flooring from an established floor covering dealer that has a showroom with a good selection of colors and styles. They will use licensed, qualified installers who will ensure that on the most important day of your wood floors life – the day it’s installed – that you get the job you deserve.

There are many installers out there who will try to tell you that they can get the material and do the job for less money. There are many homeowners who found themselves with a job half done or poorly done and cannot get the installer to return. To make matters worse,  they’ve already paid for everything and have little or no recourse since the courts will often not consider a lawsuit if you’ve used an unlicensed contractor.

What kind of wood floor best suits your lifestyle?

When purchasing a new wood floor, one of the first questions you should ask yourself is what kind of floor will best suit my lifestyle? If your home décor trends toward the rustic or casual style, you may want to consider wide board floors with hand scraped or chattered look. These type of floors also hide scratches and indentations. If you have pets, especially large dogs or you walk around the house in high heels this type of wood floor should be ideal floor you.

A more contemporary styled home may call for the narrower 3-5” boards with a smooth, glossier finish. Make sure you put felt tips on the bottom of heavy furniture and take off those heels! Scratches and indentations diminish the effect and are not easily removed.

How important is your subfloor?

Another factor to consider is your subfloor. A knowledgeable estimator will note the condition of the subfloor and be able to inform you of what should be done prior to installation. A concrete floor will need a moisture test and since, here in Florida, a test done in the dry winter months would be different than one taken six months later in the summer. That is why at our store we will always recommend using a premier adhesive for not only water control but also sound control and crack suppression.

Only work with professionals that have your “best interest” in mind!

Even the least expensive wood floor requires a significant financial commitment so make sure you’re dealing with a reputable company. Remember, a beautiful new wood floor should last you for years and add value to your home. Don’t let the floor you’ve been dreaming of turn into a nightmare!
